Obituary for Mary Jane Ragan (Jones)

Mrs. Mary Jane (Jones) Ragan, age 93, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 15, 1926 in Wayne County, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of the late John Morehead and Rosie Elsie (Catron) Jones. She was raised in Wayne County, Kentucky and graduated from Monticello High School. Mary was united in marriage to James Grider Ragan in New Castle, Indiana. Mary and James shared over 40 years of marriage together until he passed away on October 31, 1996. Mary was employed for Modern Fold Industries in New Castle, Indiana, retiring in 1972 after 19 years and 10 months of service. She was a member of the Vevay Assembly Church in Vevay, Indiana. Mary was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, painting, flowers, gardening and watching birds. Mary also enjoyed eating lunch with her friends and spending time with her family. Mary passed away at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020, at the Manderly Health Care Center in Osgood, Indiana.

Mary will be missed by her daughters, Sharon Patricia (Lee) Elkins and her husband, Garis of Hagerstown, IN, Rebecca (Ragan) Bunner of Vevay, IN and Marquetté (Ragan) Roberson and her husband, Larry of Indianapolis, IN; her grandchildren, Alicia, John, Jacob, Amy, David, Stephen and Melody; her 8-great-grandchildren; her sister, Annette Denney and her husband, Rev. Oral H. of Frankfort, KY and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Morehead and Rosie Elsie (Catron) Jones and her husband, James Grider Ragan.

Due to COVID-19 and in keeping with the CDC guidelines, masks are required along with social distancing. Friends may call 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2020, at the Vevay Assembly Church, 721 Main Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
