Obituary for Norman B. Rimstidt

Mr. Norman B. Rimstidt, age 79, of Bear Branch, Indiana, entered this life on August 5, 1942 in Bear Branch, Indiana. He was the son of the late, James Harvey and Hattie Marie (Waller) Rimstidt. He was raised in Bear Branch, Indiana and was a 1960 graduate of Rising Sun High School. Norman was inducted into the United States Army National Guard, serving in Indiana, as well as, Ohio, from 1964-1973 and from 1983-1995. On September 10, 1966, Norman was united in marriage to Patricia Lee "Pat" Sams at the Brushy Fork Baptist Church. This happy union of nearly 56 years was blessed with two sons, Rodney and James. Norman was a former commissioner for Ohio County from 1968-1972. Norman held various careers throughout his life. Norman and Pat owned and operated the Bear Branch General Store for several years. He served on the Ohio County School Board for 20 years. Norman was a member of the Bear Branch Volunteer Fire Department until 1996. Norman resided all of his life in the Bear Branch community. He farmed all of his life raising beef cattle, pigs, tobacco, hay, corn and soybeans. Norman was a former truck driver for Wilson Trucking in Napoleon, Indiana and for Kuemples Delivery in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also worked for Bear Branch Feed Mill for several years. He loved playing in softball tournaments and had his own team. Norman was a member of the American Legion Post 59 in Rising Sun, Indiana and the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Bear Branch, Indiana. Norman loved his dogs and enjoyed collecting oliver tractors, toy tractors, baseball cards and stamps. He also enjoyed playing on his computer. Norman passed away at 11:40 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Norman is survived by his wife, Patricia Lee "Pat" (Sams) Rimstidt of Bear Branch, IN; his sons, Rodney Rimstidt and his companion, Laura of Quercus Grove, IN and James "Jimmy" Rimstidt and his wife, Brandy of Hebron, KY; his grandchildren, Abbey, Oliver, Violet, Fiona, Vada and Cole; his several nieces and nephews and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lenny and Janice Sams of Rising Sun, IN.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Harvey Rimstidt, died October 23, 1979; his mother, Hattie Marie (Waller) Rimstidt, died June 11, 1997 and his brothers, Asher Robert Rimstidt, died March 18, 1934 and James Leon Rimstidt, died January 22, 2009.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2022, by Pastor Patrick Lanman at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the funeral home.
