Obituary for Ruth Juanita Hunt (Koons)
Mrs. Ruth Juanita (Koons) Hunt, age 93, of Florence, Indiana, entered this life on January 30, 1926, in Patriot, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, Carroll and Elva (Dewitt) Koons. She was raised in Patriot, Indiana where she was a 1945 graduate of Patriot High School. Juanita was united in marriage on October 18, 1947, to J.W. Hunt. This happy union was blessed with a daughter, Mary and three sons, David, Wayne and Dennis. Juanita and J.W. shared 34 years of marriage together until he passed away on October 26, 1981. Juanita was employed in laundry for Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana for three years. She was also a cashier for Hunt's Grocery Store in Florence, Indiana for five years and for a local grocery store in Quercus Grove, Indiana. She also was employed for Seagram's Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Juanita helped on the family farm and was a wonderful homemaker. Juanita was baptized at the Patriot Baptist Church and attended the Florence Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Juanita passed away at 4:22 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at the Ridgewood Health Campus in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Juanita will be missed by her daughter, Mary Stogsdill and her husband, Gary of Florence, IN; her sons, David Hunt of Florence, IN, Wayne Hunt and his wife, Kathy of Bennington, IN and Dennis Hunt of Florence, IN; her grandchildren, Douglas Hunt and his wife, Melinda, Julie Kippenburg and her wife, Alice Messer, Sara Anderson and her husband, Kenny, Jennifer Coy, Dusty Hunt and his wife, Misty, Chasity Peters and her husband, Chris, and DJ Hunt and his wife, Chelsea; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Yeary, Alexis Anderson, Kaitlyn Yeary, Cason Peters, Caylnn Peters, Rylan Hunt and Dawson Hunt; her sisters, Rebecca Hunt of Florence, Indiana, Roberta Young of Madison, IN; her brothers, Richard Koons of Warsaw, Kentucky, Randall Koons of North Vernon, Indiana, Rex Koons of Destin, FL, Robert Koons of Guilford, IN, Renny Koons of Milan, IN and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Elva (Dewitt) Koons; her husband, J.W. Hunt and her brothers, Roy, Ralph, Russell, Reed, Ray, Raymond, and Ronnie Koons.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 1, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana.
