Obituary for Samuel Brown "Sammy" Thomas

Mr. Samuel Brown "Sammy" Thomas, age 77, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on March 3, 1943 in Gallatin County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Sam E. and Mary R. (Gross) Thomas. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and attended the Mt. Sterling School in Mt. Sterling, Indiana. Sammy was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Patriot, Indiana. He enjoyed coloring and picture books and swimming. Sammy enjoyed all the activities at Swiss Villa especially attending the weekly bible study and being the door greeter. Sammy passed away at 4:15 a.m., Sunday, November 8, 2020, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Sammy is survived by his sisters, June Wainscott of French, IN, Betty Rider of Patriot, IN and Sue Thomas of Patriot, IN; his several nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law, Betty Thomas of Vevay, IN and a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam E. and Mary R. (Gross) Thomas; his brothers, James Edward "Eddie", Howard, Richard, Bernard, Leroy, William Paris "Billy" Thomas and an infant brother; his sisters, Barbara Thomas, Mary Frances Thomas, and Rita L. Peters; and his brothers-in-law, Dale Vernon Peters, Wayne Rider and Bill Wainscott.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required along with social distancing. Friends may call 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
