Obituary for Sharon "Sherry" Lee Wheeling (Branham)

Mrs. Sharon Lee "Sherry" (Branham) Wheeling, age 83 of New Palestine, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana. She was born on September 14, 1939 to Roy Lee and Mary Elizabeth (Means) Branham in Vevay, Indiana. She lived in the Vevay area throughout her youth, graduating from Vevay High School in 1958. Sherry met Robert Louis Wheeling, Sr. just a few years later and they were united in marriage on November 7, 1963 in Aberdeen, Maryland. Sherry and Robert went on to raise four children, Michael, Jeff, Robert Jr. and Dustin. Sherry dedicated her life to being an attentive, caring mother. She stayed home with her boys during their childhood and reveled in being a homemaker. Only after her children were grown did Sherry begin working outside the home, often in the service industry due to her social nature and outgoing personality. Sherry was a passionate antiquarian and could often be found at any number of auctions, adding to her expansive collection of Victorian decor and housewares. She was an avid animal lover, enamored by the dogs she had during her lifetime. Sherry also loved the holidays, as evidenced by the Christmas tree she kept in her home year-round. However, there was nothing Sherry loved more than her husband of 59 years, Robert, whom she was fiercely loyal and devoted to.

In addition to her husband, Sherry is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Gayle and his wife, Kathy of Greenfield, IN, Robert Wheeling Jr. and his wife, Deanna of Farmington, UT and Dustin Wheeling and his wife, Ruth of Greenfield, IN; her 10-grandchildren; her 16-great-grandchildren and her brother, David Branham and his wife, Judith of Downingtown, PA.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Lee Branham, died June 15, 1983; her mother, Mary Elizabeth (Means) Branham, died July 1, 2017 and her son, Michael Gayle, died February 2, 1994.
