Obituary for Stella Bennett (Romans)
Mrs. Stella (Romans) Bennett, age 104, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 4, 1917 in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was one of 14 children born to the parents of, Wesley Warren and Alice (Bryanton) Romans. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she attended school. Stella was united in marriage to Stanley L. Bennett on July 20, 1935 in Vevay, Indiana. This happy union was blessed with two sons, Wayne and Gordon and two daughters, Janet and Betty. Stella and Stanley shared over 62 years of marriage together until he passed away on October 5, 1997. Stella was employed as a stitcher for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, retiring in 1976 after 20 years and seven months of service. She was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. Stella enjoyed fishing, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Stella passed away at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Stella is survived by her son, Gordon Bennett and his wife, Nancy of Rising Sun, IN; her daughter, Janet "Peachy" Kent and her husband, Robert of Indianapolis, IN; her grandchildren, Laura (Jim Fortner) Sullivan, Jeffrey (Erin) Bennett, Stacey (Matt) Harsh, Eddie (Carey) Bennett and Kevin (Julie) Kent; her great-grandchildren, Jana (Bart) Houston, Allen (Stephanie) Kent, Sarah Perkins, Alissa (Scott) Keillor, Katie Jo Robinson, Ryan (Anna) Sullivan, Anna Sullivan, Rachel Lowry, Evan Harsh, Max Harsh, Alinna Bennett and Scott Bennett; her great-great-grandchildren, Lynk Houston, Bailey Jo Houston, Anthony Perkins, Jacob Kent and Raiden Stephenson; her grandson-in-law, Fritz Robinson and her numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Warren and Alice (Bryanton) Romans; her husband, Stanley L. Bennett; her daughter, Betty Jo Lauderbaugh; her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Donna Bennett; her grandchildren, Larry William Fair and Nila Jean Robinson; her sisters, Edith Kelly, Bessie Scudder, Falba Brinson, Iva Courtney, Nadine Furnish, Lela Lauderbaugh, Mamie Morris, Amy Ehler and Hazel Bailey and her brothers, Stanley, Arthur, Isaac and Salem Romans.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., by Bro. Jeremiah Haynes, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
