Obituary for Stephen Christopher "Steve" Sieglitz

Mr. Stephen Christopher "Steve" Sieglitz, age 53, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 15, 1967 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was the loving son of Dr. John Chris Sieglitz and Sundra Lou (Penick) Whitham. He was raised in Vevay, Indiana and was a graduate of Switzerland County High School. Steve attended Indiana University of Bloomington, Indiana for pre-med optometry. He was raised in the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church in Vevay, Indiana. Steve was inducted into the United States Air Force on October 28, 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a radio operator serving in the Desert Storm. Steve earned the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with one oak left cluster. Steve was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on October 28, 1994 at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Steve was united in marriage in Vevay, Indiana to Cheryl Lynn Petty. He was formerly employed as a slot technician and slot tech manager for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana for several years. He also was employed for the Vevay Reveille for several years. Steve was employed as a casino database manager for Computer Integration Systems of Reno, Nevada for the past several years. He was a member of the Switzerland County Sportsman Club and helped the children in the 4-H Shooting Sports Education Program. Steve enjoyed photography, cooking, shooting guns, solar energy, ham radios and his telescope and drone. Steve passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at his residence.

Steve will be deeply missed by his mother and step-father, Sundra Lou (Penick) and Floyd Whitham of Vevay, IN; his father and step-mother, Dr. John Chris and Carol Sieglitz of Vevay, IN; his brother, John Sieglitz of Vevay, IN; his step-brothers, Timothy Floyd Whitham and his wife, Jayna of Edwardsville, KS, Thomas Courtney Whitham and his wife, Melanie of Louisville, KY, Travis Michael Whitham and his wife, Rebecca of Louisville, KY and David Henninger and his wife, Angie of Cincinnati, OH and his several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his step-son who he helped raise, Alfred Blake Wheeles; his paternal-grandparents, Charles Worth and Loraine E. (Pendry) Sieglitz; his maternal-grandparents, Luther Aaron Penick and Florence A. (Vice) Penick and his uncles, Fred Wayne Penick, Luther Allen "Butch" Penick, Jr. and Charles Edward Sieglitz.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required along with social distancing. Graveside Services and Full Military Rites will be conducted Friday, January 15, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., in the New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise, Indiana by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396.
