Obituary for Thelma Sue Osborn (Roark)

Mrs. Thelma Sue (Roark) Osborn, age 67, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on April 10, 1953 at their home in Letcher County, Kentucky. She was one of 17 children born to the late Lue and Arnie (Caudill) Roark. She was raised in Vevay, Indiana where she attended the Switzerland County High School. Thelma was united in marriage on September 13, 1970 in Sunman, Indiana to Baxter Osborn, Sr. and from this union they were blessed with three sons, Baxter, Jr., Neal and Steven. Thelma and Baxter shared nearly 50 years of marriage together until her death. Thelma was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Osgood and Madison, Indiana, retiring after 27 years of service. She was a member of the Little Memory Old Regular Baptist Church in Sunman, Indiana. Thelma was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She treasured her boys and grandbabies and embraced every moment with them. Thelma was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She especially loved her role as Mamaw. Thelma enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels outside her window, playing cards and sewing. She also enjoyed going to bingo and, as it seemed, she was the only one walking away a winner! Thelma also loved girl's night with her sisters where they would play cards, reminisce and enjoyed one another's cooking. Thelma leaves an emptiness in our hearts that will never be filled.
