Obituary for Virginia Ann "Ginny" Adams

Miss Virginia Ann "Ginny" Adams, age 82, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on December 14, 1938 in Florence, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Roy G. and Mabel (Carver) Adams. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1956 graduate of the Patriot High School. After graduation, Ginny worked for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana for a few months. She later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and attended a technical college for a few years. She was employed for the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Cincinnati Branch Fourth District where she worked in several different departments. She became an Analyst Computer Programmer where she designed and developed several systems for various departments. Ginny was selected to be a part of a group of five people from the Fed and certain public bank officers to design, develop and make operational the first Automated Clearing House (ACH, Direct Deposit System for the Fourth Federal Reserve District.) The Wright Patterson Air Force Payroll was her first operational system followed by the Social Security System that extended to banks and company payrolls and other applications. From there, Ginny went into management until she retired in April 1993 at the age of 54. She was proud to have visited 46 states in her lifetime. She was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 Ladies Auxiliary. Ginny enjoyed playing softball, golfing, bowling and traveling. She also loved IU basketball and Elvis Presley. Ginny passed away at 6:17 p.m., Friday, December 25, 2020, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana.

Ginny will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Martha Lucille Stephenson and her husband, Harry of Elizabethtown, IN; her brothers, Richard Roy Adams and his wife, Leona of Florence, IN and Frank D. Adams and his wife, Shirley of Georgetown, OH; her sister-in-law, Patricia Adams of Columbia, OH and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy G. and Mabel (Carver) Adams; her sister, Emma Lou Brindley; her brothers, Robert Emerson "Bob" Adams and Arthur Bettens "Art" Adams and her step-brother, Charles Noble Adams.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
