Life Story for Wallace Ray White

Mr. Wallace Ray White, age 91, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on July 27, 1927, in Midway, Kentucky, the son of the late, Jess and Artie (Riddle) White. He was raised in Vevay, Indiana, where he was a 1947 graduate of the Vevay High School. Wallace was inducted into the United States Army on September 21, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private on November 27, 1946, at Lowry Field in Denver, Colorado. Wallace was united in marriage March 20, 1949, in Dearborn County, Indiana, to Rosalen Lester and to this union arrived a son, Gregory and a daughter, Louann to bless their home. Wallace was later united in marriage on December 31, 1964, in Dearborn County, Indiana to Betty Deck. They shared 46 years of marriage together until she passed away on January 14, 2010. Wallace was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana. He owned and operated White's Grocery Store, which later sold in 1957. Wallace moved to the Clearwater, Florida community in 1968. He was employed as a transporter for Bank of America in Clearwater, Florida. Wallace was a milkman in Miami, Florida and was a manager for the 7-Eleven in Miami, Florida. Wallace was a member of the Switzerland Masonic Lodge #122 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He was also a member of the First Christian Church of Clearwater, Florida. Wallace passed away at 7:53 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison, Indiana.

Wallace will be deeply missed by his son, Gregory White and his wife, Charlotte of Sunman, IN; his daughter, Louann Waller and her husband, Charles "Buddy" of Lexington, IN; his grandchildren, Jason White, Teri White, Raymond White, Brian Morton and Robert Morton; his 10-great-grandchildren; his 5-great-great-grandchildren; his step-grandchildren, Michael and Lisa and his 4-step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Artie (Riddle) White; his wife of 46 years, Betty (Deck) White, died January 14, 2010 and his brother, Cecil White.

Masonic Services & Full Military Rites will be conducted Thursday, January 24, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., by the Switzerland Masonic Lodge #122 F&AM and Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the Vevay Cemetery, 800 East Main Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
