Mrs. Evelyn Mae Sayers Rogers, age 81, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on December 24, 1932, in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Earl B. & Mae (Meyers) Sayers, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Orland Park, Illinois and was a 1950 graduate of Orland Park High School. On March 24, 1951, Evelyn married Elmer Edward Rogers and to this union arrived a son, Tom and two daughters, Laura & Mary Ellen to bless their home. Elmer and Evelyn shared nearly 33 years of marriage together until his death on February 25, 1984. Evelyn had resided in the Pleasant, Indiana community since 1973. She was a homemaker and had also been involved with home health care for many of the elderly throughout the community. Many in the community will remember Evelyn as a devoted mother, grandmother, friend and caregiver. She was a faithful member of the Long Run Baptist Church near Moorefield, Indiana and enjoyed music and reading. Evelyn was awaiting the birth of her fourth great grandchild. Evelyn died at 3:35 am, Friday, July 4, 2014, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

Evelyn will be missed by her loving son, Tom Rogers and his wife: Mary Jane of Vevay, Indiana; her loving daughters, Laura Erickson and her husband: John of Bear Branch, Indiana, Mary Ellen Baker and her husband: Jay of Fairview, Indiana; her loving grandsons, Joshua Rogers, Benjamin Rogers and Daniel Baker; her loving granddaughters, Amanda Baker and Kathryn Erickson Elliott; her adoring great-grandchildren, Samuel, Claire and Whitney; her loving brother, Kenneth Sayers of Keystone Heights, Florida; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl B. and Mae Meyers Sayers; her loving husband of thirty three years, Elmer Edward. Rogers, died February 25, 1984; her half brother, William Mutch.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 1:00 pm, by Pastor K.C. Banta, Pastor Mike Barnes and Pastor Bill Madison, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street in Vevay, Indiana.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant Cemetery in Pleasant, Indiana.

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, July 7, 2014, and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street in Vevay, Indiana.
