Life Story for Mr. Richard R. "Rick" Wainscott

Mr. Richard R. "Rick"  Wainscott
Mr. Richard R. "Rick" Wainscott, age 60, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on April 7, 1954, in Madison, Indiana, the loving son of the late, Lenvill J. Wainscott & Phyllis Ann (Konkle) Coker. He was raised in Vevay, Indiana, where he attended the Switzerland County High School. Rick was inducted into the Indiana Army National Guard on August 18, 1972 in Madison, Indiana. He was honorably discharged from active duty on January 19, 1973, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He continued to serve in the Indiana Army National Guard Reserves, for 6 years. Rick was united in marriage on August 11, 1973, in Versailles, Indiana, by Rev. Velma Manuel, to Sherry Scudder & to this union arrived a son, Shawn to bless their home. Rick & Sherry shared nearly 41 years of marriage together until he lost his courageous battle to cancer. Rick co-owned & co-operated with his loving wife, the Wainscott's Garage in Vevay, Indiana, since November 1999. He was a former employee for Stigler Construction Company at Dow Corning in Carrollton, Kentucky, Dayton Walther in Warsaw, Kentucky, M&T Chemical in Carrollton, Kentucky & for Stedman Foundry in Aurora, Indiana. Rick resided in the Switzerland County Community all of his life. Rick enjoyed the outdoors, especially keeping a meticulous lawn, IU Basketball, working on automobiles, but most of all spending time with his grandson, Zack, who was his pride & joy. Rick was always the man to call when you needed a helping hand & will be truly missed in the community. Rick passed away with his loving family by his side at 2:47 pm, Monday, July 7, 2014, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

Rick will be truly missed by his loving wife of nearly 41 years: Sherry (Scudder) Wainscott of Vevay, IN; his son: Shawn Wainscott of Vevay, IN; his grandson: Zack Wainscott of Vevay, IN; his step-mother: Carolyn S. Wainscott of Cincinnati, OH; his half-brothers: Troy Coker of New Albany, IN & Lenvill Jeff Wainscott, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH; his half-sisters: Marion Skirvin of Madison, Indiana, Melinda K. Tackett of Loveland, OH, Donna J. Wainscott of Cincinnati, OH & Kimberly Ann Moore of King Mills, OH; his mother-in-law & father-in-law: Nina & John Lock of Vevay, IN; his sister-in-laws: Pam Wainscott of Fairview, IN & Helen Wainscott of Vevay, IN; his brother-in-laws: Gene Scudder of Florence, IN, Harlan Scudder of Vevay, IN, Randy Scudder of Vevay, IN, Monte Scudder of Florence, IN & Shane Chatham of Vevay, IN; his several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Lenvill J. Wainscott & Phyllis Ann (Konkle) Coker; his brothers: Jerry Lee Wainscott, William Dale "Bill" Wainscott & Larry Wainscott; his grandparents: Noah & Willena Wainscott, Ernie & Jessie Konkle; his great-grandparents: Glen & Opal Roberts; his brother-in-law: Rick Skirvin.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 11, 2014, at 11:00 am, by Pastor K.C. Banta, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery in Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
