Life Story for Mrs. Clara C. (Cox) Gingerich

Mrs. Clara C. (Cox)  Gingerich
Mrs. Clara C. (Cox) Gingerich, age 89, of Pleasant, Indiana, entered this life on April 9, 1925, in Jeptha, Kentucky, the loving daughter of the late, Ollie & Merlie (Rowland) Cox. She was raised in Morgan County, Kentucky & was a 1942 graduate of Frenchburg High School in Frenchburg, Kentucky & earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1958 from the Morehead State College in Morehead, Kentucky. Clara was united in marriage on December 1, 1947, in West Liberty, Kentucky, to the late, Ralph Pelfrey. Clara & Ralph shared 37 years of marriage together until Ralph passed away on February 18, 1984. Clara was later united in marriage on December 9, 1986 in Middletown, Ohio, to Rev. David Kenneth Gingerich. Clara & David shared 28 loving years of marriage together until her death. Clara was a former 1st Grade Teacher for the Monroe Elementary School in Monroe, Ohio, retiring in 1982, after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Tytus Avenue Church of God in Middletown, Ohio. Clara will be remembered for her love of reading & working in her church. Clara died at 8:57 pm, Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

Clara will be missed by her loving husband of 28 years: Rev. David Kenneth Gingerich of Pleasant, IN; her daughters: Diana Bowers & her husband: Charles of Middletown, OH, Barbara Leach & her husband: Phillip of Ezel, KY; her son: Gregory Pelfrey & his wife: Kathy of Strasburg, VA; her step-sons: David J. Gingerich & his wife: Vickie of Hillsboro, OH, Chris Gingerich & his wife: Laura of Hamilton, OH; her step-daughters: Kimberly Grimes & her husband: Steve of Hamilton, OH, Cathy Grech & her husband: Anthony of Detroit, MI; her 3-grandchildren; her 1-great-grandchild; her 19-step-grandchildren; her 12-step-great-grandchildren; her sister: Bettie Hill of Batavia, OH; her nephew: James Roberts of Great Falls, VA; her niece: Susan Janson of Weston, MA; her numerous other family members & friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Ollie & Merlie (Rowland) Cox; her first-husband: Ralph Pelfrey; her sisters: Marjorie Roberts & Mattie Johnson; her nephews: Larry Scott Johnson & John Hunt Morgan Roberts.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 6:00 pm, by Rev. Ron Lee, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 11, 2014, at the Monroe Cemetery in Monroe, Ohio. Interment will follow in the North Monroe Cemetery, Monroe, Ohio.

Friends may call 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
