Life Story for Mrs. Patricia J. "Patty" (Bakes) Works

Mrs. Patricia J. "Patty" (Bakes)  Works
Mrs. Patricia J. "Patty" (Bakes) Works, age 91, of Allensville, Indiana, entered this life on July 18, 1923, the youngest child of, Charles A. & Mabel (Hall) Bakes, in Jacksonville, Indiana (Switzerland County.) Patty was raised in Jacksonville, Indiana & was a 1941 graduate of the Vevay High School. Patty was united in marriage on November 20, 1941, in Patriot, Indiana, by the Reverend McNeeley to the late, Loren Edwin Works & to this union arrived two sons, Roger E. Works & Andrew J. Works to bless their home. She was a former Assistant Cashier for the East Enterprise State Bank & later for the Vevay Deposit Bank, East Enterprise Branch, for 28 years. Patty resided for a brief time in Madison & Columbus, Indiana, but resided most of her life with her husband on the family farm in Allensville, Indiana, until her death. She was a member of the Allensville United Methodist Church, for many years & when the church closed in June 2000, she moved her membership to the Aberdeen United Methodist Church. Her faith was expressed there in many ways, serving Christ with her church family. She enjoyed a 50 year membership with the East Enterprise Home Economics Club. She served as Secretary & Treasurer of the Allensville Cemetery Association, for many years. She also enjoyed & supported the Tuesday Hymn Sing at Swiss Villa & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. For the past year, Patty was lovingly cared for by her daughter-in-law, Janet Works. Patty's beautiful smile & her faithfulness to her Lord will be deeply missed by her family, friends & everyone in her community. Patty was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt & dear friend. Patty went to be with her Lord at 9:04 am, Sunday, January 11, 2015, at her residence in Allensville, Indiana.

Patty will be deeply missed by her loving sons: Roger E. Works & his wife: Janet of Seymour, IN & Andrew J. Works of Scipio, IN; her grandchildren: Esta J. Works of Nashville, TN, Rich Works & his wife: Teara of Hopkinsville, KY, Scott Works & his wife: Magon of Scipio, IN & Keri A. Cool & her husband: Ryan of Ellettsville, IN; her great-grandchildren: Cole Works, Carson Works, Luke Cool, Isaiah Cool & Lauren Cool; her sister: Theo Ralston of Madison, IN & her numerous nieces & nephews.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents: Charles A. & Mabel (Hall) Bakes; her husband: Loren Edwin Works, died January 30, 1996; her brother: Hal Hall Bakes & her sisters: Martha Alice Hamilton-Liggett & Charlene Baird.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Roger Parrott, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to Aberdeen United Methodist Church or to the Hospice of King's Daughters' Hospital. Cards are available at the funeral home.
