Mrs. Pruda Mae (Remer) Smith, age 89, of Rising Sun, Indiana, formerly of Florence, Indiana, entered this life on July 4, 1925, in Gallatin County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late, Alfred & Florence (Webster) Remer. She was raised in Gallatin County, Kentucky, where she attended school. Pruda was united in marriage on January 19, 1946, in Vevay, Indiana, to the late, Harold R. "Pete" Smith & to this union arrived two sons & four daughters to bless their home. Pruda & Pete shared 50 years of marriage together until his death on December 15, 1996. Pruda was a former employee for the Swiss Inn & the Jackson's Senior Citizen Home in Vevay, Indiana, for several years. She helped her husband on the family farm near Patriot, Indiana. In 1975, they moved to Florence, Indiana, where she resided until 2010 & moved to Rising Sun, Indiana, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff at the Waters of Rising Sun. Pruda attended the Grants Creek Baptist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker & enjoyed reading, cooking & plants. Pruda died at 3:05 pm, Saturday, January 24, 2015, at The Water's of Rising Sun in Rising Sun, Indiana.

Pruda will be missed by her daughters: Libby Smith & her husband: Charles of Rising Sun, IN, Corene M. "Sissy" Smith of Rising Sun, IN & Tina Sandlin & her husband: James of Pleasant, IN; her grandchildren: Troy Smith & his wife: Becky, Susan Smith Crouse, Thomas Springer, Jr. & Tonya Springer; her great-grandchildren: Billy Crouse, Joey Crouse, Michael Ellis & Angela Staggs; her step-grandchildren: Davey Sandlin, Josh Sandlin & Jamie Sandlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Alfred & Florence (Webster) Remer; her husband: Harold R. "Pete" Smith, died December 15, 1996; her sons: Harold A. "Bubby" Smith, died February 7, 2012 & Danny L. Smith, died September 9, 2002; her daughter: Linda Faye "Winnie" Ellis, died August 28, 2013; her grandson: Joshua Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 1:00 pm, by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana.
