Life Story for Juanita Detmer (Day)

Juanita  Detmer (Day)
Mrs. Juanita (Day) Detmer, age 94, of Patriot, Indiana, entered this life on June 2, 1921, in Vevay, Indiana, the daughter of the late, William Allen and Vesta (Downey) Day. She was raised in Vevay, Indiana where she was a 1939 graduate of the Vevay High School. Juanita was united in marriage on June 2, 1943, at the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana, to the late, Carroll Albert Detmer and to this union arrived a son, Albert on January 10, 1948 to bless their home. Juanita and Carroll shared 65 years of marriage together until Carroll passed away on June 2, 2008. Juanita was first employed as a waitress for Paul and Edith Lampkin. She was later employed for the Vevay Reveille Office from 1939 to 1943. Carroll and Juanita operated the Detmer Dairy Farm in Patriot, Indiana, for 70 years. She was a member of the Posey Tappers Home Extension Club and served on the extension homemakers state committees and was the Madison District Representative from 1965 to 1966. She was also a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau and a faithful member of the Concord Community Church. She will be remembered for her love of animals and music. Juanita died at 1:15 pm, Monday, September 7, 2015, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Juanita will be missed by her son: Albert Detmer & his wife: Cleo of Patriot, IN; her grandson: Allen E. Detmer & his wife: Michelle and her great-grandchildren: Allison, Alisha & Amber Detmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents: William Allen and Vesta (Downey) Day and her husband: Carroll Albert Detmer, died June 2, 2008.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 10:00 am, by Pastor Steve Ward, at the Concord Community Church, 196 Concord Road Patriot, Indiana 47038.

Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana.

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Concord Community Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.
