Life Story for Ruby McMackin (Elston)

Ruby  McMackin (Elston)
Mrs. Ruby (Elston) McMackin, age 95, of Bennington, Indiana, was born December 22, 1919, the daughter of, Tom and Mary "Mollie" (Harrell) Elston. On March 30, 1936, she married William Pleasant "Doc" McMackin and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1980. She later married Glenn Edwards on May 19, 2003 and he died on October 13, 2011. She was a member of the Bennington United Methodist Church, Bennington United Methodist Women, and Homemakers Club. She was also a member of the Slawson Cemetery Board and served as sexton of the cemetery. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and quilting. Ruby was known for her generous spirit, open heart, and great love of family, friends, and neighbors. She will be missed by all. Ruby passed away at 5:00 pm, Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the Ripley Crossing in Milan, Indiana.

Ruby will be missed by her daughter: Sue Purcell & her husband: Rufus of Milan, IN; her granddaughters: Sherri Zornes & her husband: Todd of Milan, IN & Trisha Riley & her husband: Bob of Milan, IN; her great-grandchildren: Shelby Zornes, Hayley Zornes & Devin Riley all of Milan, IN & her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas H. & Mary M. (Harrell) Elston; her 1st husband: William Pleasant "Doc" McMackin, died May 10, 1980; her 2nd husband: Arthur Glenn Edwards, died October 13, 2011; her sisters: Iva Johnson & Dorothy McMackin; her brothers: Clyde, Freddie, Raymond & Wilkie Elston.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 5, 2015, at 11:00 am, by Pastor Bill Madison & Saundra Hamm, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Slawson Cemetery, Bennington, Indiana

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to Slawson Cemetery or to the Bennington United Methodist Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.
