Life Story for Louise Hartman (Law)

Louise  Hartman (Law)
Mrs. Louise (Law) Hartman, age 84, of near Moorefield, Indiana, entered this life on August 21, 1931, in Bedford, Kentucky, the loving daughter of the late, William Albert and Bessie (Miles) Law. She was raised in Trimble County, Kentucky and Jefferson County, Indiana and was a 1950 graduate of Central High School. Louise was united in marriage on March 13, 1952 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to Julian L. "Nub" Hartman and to this union arrived a daughter, Vicki and a son, Chris to bless their home. Louise and Nub shared 59 years of marriage together until he passed away on July 25, 2011. She was a former employee for US Shoe Factory in Madison, Indiana. She was a former employee for Five & Dime Store in Madison, Indiana for one year. In 1974, Louise was employed as a Teacher's Aid for the Jeff-Craig Elementary School. She was also a former bus driver for the feeder route. Louise retired as an Instructional Assistant from the Switzerland County School Corporation in 2013 after 39 years of service. Louise helped her husband, Nub on the family farm raising cattle, tobacco, corn, wheat, soybeans and hay. The Hartman Family have continually operated the Hartman Farm near Moorefield for the past 112 years. The Hartman's received the Homestead Award in 2004 for continuous operation for a family farm for 100 years in the State of Indiana, from Governor Joseph Kernan. In 2006, Nub was the recipient of the Silver Star Award from the Switzerland County Soil & Water Conservation District. Louise was a member of the Evening Bells Home Economics Club and the Caledonia United Presbyterian Church in Moorefield, Indiana. Louise was a 4-H leader for the Switzerland County 4-H for several years. Louise enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, mowing her lawn at least twice a week and keeping a meticulous home and barnyard. Louise was a fixture in the Moorefield community where she will be dearly missed by her family, friends and the children that she taught for many years at the Switzerland County Elementary School. Louise passed away at 4:45 pm, Saturday, January 2, 2016, at her residence near Moorefield, Indiana

Louise will be dearly missed by her daughter: Vicki Lee (Hartman) Bear of Moorefield, IN; her son: Chris Hartman & his companion: Sara Wilson of Madison, IN; her grandsons: Allan Bear of Vevay, IN, Todd Bear of Fairfield, OH & Justin Hartman of Moorefield, IN; her great-grandsons: Jackson, Maddox Bear & Chandler Cole; her sisters: Mary Bullock of Madison, IN, Pauline Roberts of Muncie, IN, Edna Murphy of Madison, IN & Emogene Konkle of Madison, IN; her brother: William "Billy" Law, Jr. of Madison, IN & her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: William Albert & Bessie (Miles) Law; her husband of 59 years: Julian L. "Nub" Hartman, died July 25, 2011; her son-in-law: Elbert Lynn Bear, died November 16, 2000; her infant brother: William Miles & her brother: Frank "Bud" Law, died 1997.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
