Life Story for Royland Lee "Tom" Skirvin

Royland Lee "Tom"  Skirvin
Mr. Royland L. "Tom" Skirvin, age 56, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on June 20, 1959, in Madison, Indiana, the loving son of the late, Clyde "Mousie" Skirvin, Jr. and Betty Jean (Otter) Adams. He was raised in Switzerland County where he was a 1978 graduate of the Switzerland County High School. Tom was united in marriage on June 3, 1978, at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Four Corners, Jennings County, Indiana, to Melissa Kay Vogel and to this union arrived two daughters, Lorilee and Valerie and a son, Ryan to bless their home. Tom and Melissa shared nearly 38 loving years of marriage together until his death. He received his life and health insurance license.Tom co-owned and co-operated with his wife the Senior Market Solutions for 35 years in West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #185 in Vevay, Indiana, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1969 in Madison, Indiana and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1631 in North Vernon, Indiana. He was also a member of the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay, Indiana. Tom enjoyed camping, his tepee, riding horses, singing karaoke, listening to Elvis Presley music and spending time with his grandchildren, his family and his dogs. Tom was a master socializer and will be dearly missed by his family, friends and his community. Tom passed away at 2:35 pm, Friday, March 18, 2016, at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

Tom will be dearly missed by his loving wife of nearly 38 years: Melissa Kay (Vogel) Skirvin of Vevay, IN; his daughters: Lorilee Smith & her husband: Tom of Rochester, MN & Valerie Skirvin of Vevay, IN; his son: Ryan Skirvin & his wife: Denise of Sevierville, TN; his grandchildren: Kailee, Jocelyn, Madison, Macy, Cooper, Trentin, Sebastian, Gabriella Jayden & Cassie; his great-grandson: Colton; his sister: Belinda "Boo" Anderson & her husband: John of Madison, IN; his brothers: Richard Skirvin & his wife: Angela of Madison, IN & Billy J. Skirvin & his wife: Tina of Scottsburg, IN; his mother-in-law: Beverly Vogel of Hayden, IN; his grandmother-in-law: Mary Wilkerson of Scipio, IN; his sisters-in-law: Connie Adams of Vevay, IN & Barb Walker & her husband: Scott of Indianapolis, IN; his brothers-in-law: Mike Vogel & his companion: Michelle Mull of Henryville, IN & Scott Vogel & his wife: Heather of North Vernon, IN & his several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Clyde "Mousie" Skirvin, Jr. & Betty Jean (Otter) Adams; his brother: George Bryant Adams & his father-in-law: Charles Vogel.

Funeral Mass will be conducted Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 11:00 am, by Father Christopher Craig, at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay, Indiana.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

The rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 7:30 pm, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana.

The family requests memorial expressions in memory of Tom to either a form of a Mass or to the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church, contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
