Life Story for George B. Mangold

George B.  Mangold
Mr. George Bernard Mangold, age 88, of Columbia, Tennessee, entered this life on December 16, 1927, in Hickman, Kentucky, the loving son of the late, George Bernard, Sr. and Nell O. (Wedding) Mangold. He was raised in Hickman, Kentucky where he was a 1946 graduate of the Hickman High School. George was inducted into the United States Army on September 15, 1950 in Owensboro, Kentucky, serving during the Korean War. George was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal on September 14, 1952 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. In 1960, George earned his degree in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. George was united in marriage on October 3, 1953, at the St. Lawrence Parish in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late, Helen Bernice Voss and to this union arrived six sons and a daughter to bless their home. George and Helen shared nearly 54 years of marriage together until Helen passed away on May 14, 2007. He was a former Engineering Assistant for General Electric in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1953 to 1971. George was a former Supervisor for Randall Textron in Vevay, Indiana, from 1971 to 1973. George was employed as a Night Shift Supervisor for Kawneer in Carrollton, Kentucky, from 1973 to 1975. He was also a former Shuttle Bus Driver for Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun, Indiana, from 1986 to 2005. George was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185, Scout Troop #227 of Cincinnati, Ohio and the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay, Indiana. George was a Scout Master for Scout Troop #227 of Cincinnati, Ohio and received the order of the arrow from the scouts and received the St. George Scouting Award. He also received from the State of Indiana an award for tourism. George enjoyed farming and spending time with his family and friends and was very active at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church where he was a faithful member. George passed away at 4:30 pm, Wednesday May 4, 2016, at the Life Care of Columbia in Columbia, Tennessee.

George will be dearly missed by his daughter: Rosemarie Pavy of Columbia, TN; his sons: Michael Mangold of Vevay, IN, Mark Mangold of Vevay, IN, Steve Mangold of Vevay, IN, Dan Mangold & his wife: Lucinda of Vevay, IN & Jeff Mangold & his companion: Deanna Deputy of Madison, IN; his grandchildren: Chris, Pat, Matthew, Robert, Kyle, Glenn, Sherry, Stephanie, Andrea, Jessica, Taylor, Lindsey & Breanna; his 40-great-grandchildren & his great-great-grandchild; his brother: Charles Mangold of Memphis, TN; his sister: Charlotte Garrigan of Hickman, KY; his sister-in-law: Emma Jo Mangold of Somerset, KY & his several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: George Bernard, Sr. & Nell O. (Wedding) Mangold; his wife: Helen B. (Voss) Mangold, died May 14, 2007; his son: Richard Mangold; his brother: Chris Mangold & his sisters: Geneva Mangold, Mary Thomas Mangold & Anna Lysko.

Funeral Mass will be conducted Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at 11:00 am, by Father John A. Meyer, Father Christopher Craig & Father Don Buchanan, at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church, North Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the cemetery.

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, May 9, 2016, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

The rosary will be prayed on Monday at 7:30 pm, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to either A form of a Mass, Cincinnati Children's Hospital or to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Cards are available at the funeral home.
