RENA CASBIENA

iTS JUST A COMMON BULLFROG!  But one that I will always be.  Aunt Evelina made that costume for me and helped me atain the role in a school play at Neil Armstrong School when Kathy and I lived with her and DOC.  From the "Depression Christmas" to cheating at ROOK (lol), Evelina was an extrodinary woman doing greatness with her deeds.  Her life was one of compassion and giving through teaching and helping. Thousands of her students all of her relatives and family will always be influenced by her actions.  But most important, me.  Had it not been for her many interventions I would not have gone on to where I am today.  Eve taught me to believe in myself, gave me strength when I was weak, compassion when angry and played John Denver everynight so I could go to sleep.  No different than any siblings, Evelina and Jo Ann had their spats, just as Kathy and I but never waivered from the bond that we know as family.

As an attorney she taught me the phrase "Nobless Oblige" literal translation from French . . . the obligation of the nobel.  She accepted her obligations in every aspect of her life.  She advocated for those that could not and did not have a voice of their own.  Overcoming many obstacles as a woman in a time women were not to be heard, she empowered herself through her tenacious efforts and Docs support to graduate from college and law school.  Countless hours worked at the "Teepee" restaurant to earn her own way and pay tuition.  Evelina empowers those around her and makes them better.  Maybe thats why God blessed me with 3 girls, because I was lucky enough to have influences such as Eve teach me.

In the words of the great Educator Horrace Mann, "Be ashamed to die until you have achieved something for humanity".  Evelina you can rest peacefully for you have done this many times over.  For those hearing these words, the poet Bob Dylan said, "Do not go gently into that good night, rage, rage against the dying of the light".  For Evelina, its is Andrew, me, Kathy, Christy, Misty our children and the many generations after them and the thousands of lives you have influenced, WE ARE YOUR LIGHT!!!  It will burn the brightest in the years to come, just as all the little bullfrogs have for millions of years.   Rest peacfully with your family in heavan-  Little Benny.
