Life Story for Barbara Ann Banta (Belch)

Barbara Ann  Banta (Belch)
Mrs. Barbara Ann (Belch) Banta, age 68, of Moorefield, Indiana, entered this life on September 6, 1947, in Tampa, Florida, the loving daughter of the late, Harry McAllister Belch and Charlotte Francis (Meeder) Belch-Pigg. She was raised in Tampa, Florida where she attended the Frank W. Cox High School and later the Princess Anne High School. She graduated from the Kodiak City College in Kodiak, Alaska. Barb received her property and casualty insurance license from IUPUI. Barbara was united in marriage on June 1, 1966, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, to Kenton C. "Casey" Banta and to this union arrived two sons, Casey and Robert and a daughter, Dawn to bless their home. Barb and Casey shared 49 loving years of marriage together until her death. She was the assistant director for the Switzerland County EMA, retiring in 2010 after 6 years of service. Barb was a member of the Vevay American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #5396. She was also a member and past matron of the Bennington Order of Eastern Star No. 407. Barb was a faithful member of the Long Run Baptist Church in Moorefield, Indiana. She was a former member of the Moorefield Community Fire Department where she served as an ambulance driver and first responder for 27 years. Barb enjoyed playing music with Harmony & Hymns on Tuesday's at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. Barb was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed volunteering her time in the community and helping others. Barb will be dearly missed by her family, friends and her community. Barbara was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Barb passed away with her loving family by her side at 12:43 pm, Friday, October 2, 2015, at her residence in Moorefield, Indiana.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 49 years: Kenton C. "Casey" Banta of Moorefield, IN; her sons: Casey R. Banta & his wife: Stacey of Moorefield, IN & Robert M. Banta & his companion: April Schostkewitz of Pleasant, IN; her daughter: Dawn (Banta) Christman of Pleasant, IN; her grandchildren: Kinslea Nicole Christman, Lauren "Abbie" Christman, Calvin Lee Banta, Megan Banta, Alex Banta, Sydnie Banta, Quentin Banta & JR Cox; her sisters: Susan Johnson of Knotts Island, NC & Michelle Lewis of Elizabeth City, NC; her brothers: Johnny Belch of Lakewood, CA & Jimmy Belch of Virginia Beach, VA & her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Harry McAllister Belch & Charlotte Francis (Meeder) Belch-Pigg; her brother: Richard Belch & her sisters: Ruthie Pigg, Harriett Getz & Donna Hoover.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Tom Rogers & Rev. Mike Barnes, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, October 5, 2015, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Eastern Star Services will be held at 7:30 pm, Monday, October 5, 2015, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Long Run Baptist Church or to the Moorefield Community Fire Department. Cards are available at the funeral home.
